Control Union created the Green Choice certification in 2013 as a sustainable tourism standard that builds on established policies around the world and adapts to local conditions.

Control Union created the Green Choice certification in 2013 as a sustainable tourism standard based on policies already established worldwide and adapted to local conditions. The requirements apply to tourism services that demonstrate they have been developed under appropriate social, environmental, and economic conditions that promote responsible development. This certificate may be granted to all types of tourist accommodation services that demonstrate they operate sustainably and comply with the principles of the standard. Sustainable tourism certifications are designed to voluntarily assess and monitor the environmental and social impact of tourism organizations or destinations that facilitate tourism activities. Control Union carries out an independent and competent verification of companies’ sustainability performance.
